Here's my digital story, I had so much fun making it! If you haven't been following my posts, this is for my 2nd graders' Fairy tale unit that we do at the end of the year. I'll use this as an example of what they are going to do, which is rewrite a fairy tale and create a digital story. Please let me know your honest thoughts about what you like and what could be improved =) Thank you!!!

  1. Hi Kristin,

I LOVED your digital story! It was extremely creative and well thought out. I can imagine how excited your class of 2nd graders' will be when you show them the example you created! I believe this digital story will be able to fit perfectly into your fairy tale unit. The example you made is awesome the way it is and does not need any improvements. The digital story project will be a fun and exciting way to integrate technology use in the classroom, too. Your 2nd graders' will definitely be able to create their own story. The only thing you may have to help them with is recording themselves and inserting it into their Prezi. I'm excited to hear an update of how your fairy tale unit goes with the use of digital stories.

    Thanks for sharing!! :)

  2. Hello Krsitin,

I love your story! I can tell that you wrote your story, then moved it to the digital story. This is a great model to give your students since they will be very excited to just do the digital part. Also, Prezi is very user friendly and I think that your class will get a hang of it quickly. I have two suggestions, first is to color the pictures. This is something simple but I think if they are colored it would add more to the story, and also it adds the expectation for the students (if that's something you expect from them). Second is maybe adding another element? Maybe a live video, or soft music in the background? Your story is very good, but maybe this will kick it up a notch? Overall, I do love your story, and I think it is very appropriate for your second graders!

    Have fun with it,
    Ashley T.

  3. Hi Kristin,

I loved your digital story example. I really like reading your posts since I teach second grade too, it is good to see other teachers ideas! I loved that you tied your digital story into a fairy tale unit. I feel like our kids really need to spend so much more time on writing and units like this. Sadly as we know, there is never enough time in the day or year.

I loved how you drew your pictures. I think it is an awesome way to model to your students a way they could create theirs as well. I also like that your pictures were in black and white. I know your students will probably want to color theirs, but I think your black and white pictures were great! I felt that your presentation was very organized and your voice recordings were clear and easy to understand!!

    Good job!! :)

  4. Hi Kristin,

Your Prezi digital storytelling example was GREAT!! Your kids will absolutely love this assignment. The details in your presentation were amazing and I am sure your students will catch onto those. You would probably have to help the little ones record the voiceover, but they would have so much fun with it. Being able to do silly voices, etc. Have you considered making the illustrations in color? That might appeal to your young audience more than black and white.
Awesome job on your project example!!
